Commander’s Department Vision

As Commander of American Veterans Department of Tennessee my number one priority is service to the Veterans of Tennessee and to our AMVETS members. I also encourage each post to get out in your community and get to know it.

Each community is different; the needs are different but the people are our fellow Tennesseans be active in your communities and schools. Whether it is helping to file a VA claim or building a ramp for a Veteran you make a difference. Use Americanism, Constitution distribution, food bank drives, and other programs as a method to get involved and to get to know your communities.

Together we can grow the AMVETS name and service we provide for Veterans. The newly formed Next County Program provides resources to grow new posts in Tennessee. It will take a commitment from your posts and membership but together we can grow.

We now live in a digital age and AMVETS Headquarters has moved in that direction. Revalidation, Reporting and Membership are now all online. As you know we now have a State Training Officer and are currently developing training for key positions at the post level. This will standardize key competencies and help learn the systems required when reporting to the AMVETS Headquarters.

Together we can make a difference in Tennessee! Together we are stronger and have a voice. Be involved and stay engaged in local and state Veteran issues. We also have voice at the federal level and I will carry the water to AMVETS HQs as our resolutions are forwarded to members of Congress.

My door is always open and I look forward to our journey together.
